Things that made me smile today
1. Watching the dogs play at the dog park as I ran past
2. Finishing my 20.5 mile run without dying
3. Coming home to find I had pulled ahead in TheBump.com’s Best Baby Journal Blog contest!
I just checked the poll again, though, and I’m back down by 2%. So here I am, asking you all to please help me again. If each of my readers voted for me at least one more time, I know it would make a huge difference, so please consider clicking on the following link and voting for me. You don’t have to register for anything or fill anything out. Just scroll to the bottom and click on Baby Rabies. You can vote as many times as you’d like.
If I win this round, I will be in the running for the Grand Prize, $1,000! It would be so helpful. We would put a substantial chunk in Kendall’s college fund, I’d buy a ticket to Blogher 2010 and the rest will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, so please vote for me! Thank you SO much!
Thank you all so much!!

I’m voting for you! I hope you win
It is good to see that the prize money for both of the top blogs will go to good causes. = )
I’m glad you said you can vote more than once. I had no idea.
And I consider buying a ticket to Blogher10 a most excellent cause.
I voted!!! And you are ahead by 3% at the moment! YAY!!!!
I love your blog, but I just can’t vote against Mama Spohrs.
I voted again!
Sorry. Love your blog. But come on. Heather Sphor really needs something a bit of good news, don’tcha think. But think your blog is great. Keep writing!
I voted at least 60 times. This is a tough competition!
I can’t understand how you are okay with begging votes away from the Spohrs. Their baby died, so they don’t have to put any money towards
her college fund, and they aren’t buying tickets to anywhere. 100% of their prize money will go to charity. Why are you so intent on taking that away from them?
I agree I have been following the Spohrs for awile now and I cant vote against them. I came to check yours out because I had to know who her competition was! Maybe if your money was going towards something better than a ticket/college fund with what a tini tiny going to a charity (which I’m sure you said just so you would kind of look good) it would of been difficult but no after seeing your lame things I voted for her like 100 times. Maybe when you learn to give to the world and not be selfish people will care and help you win things but last I checked you were out of the lead by like %15…. if you do win you should be ashamed of yourself for being selfish.
I am familiar with the Spohrs and have been following them for months. Their story is inspiring and touching and I am deeply saddened by the passing of Maddie. I didn’t intend to beg votes “away” from them, as I know they have a very large following and was sure that would show itself in the results. If you follow the Spohrs and felt they should win, then I certainly respect your decision to vote for them.
As far as the money goes, hey I was honest with you all. I hardly think my choice to put prize money in my son’s college savings account is a questionable one. A ticket to Blogher is $198, and as of Nov. 15th of this year, I will have raised nearly $3,000 already for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society when I run in the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Antonio, TX for Team in Training, so please don’t assume that I am a selfish person who doesn’t do anything for charity.
I’m a little late, but I wanted to counteract some of the previous posters who attacked you. They need to get over themselves. You have every right to ask for votes.
..and, to follow on from what Kelly Anne said, it’s hardly like you said “don’t vote for them, vote for me!”
As for the commenters who just went off on their own trip.. must be wearying to be self-righteous all the time.
