When I was a toddler in the early 80s, my parents both worked part time and shared taking care of me. When they started sending me to the local daycare thingy, they requested the name be changed from Mothers' Day Out to Parents' Day Out! And it was.

awwww. It will be ok, you need a little time for yourself. I have to say though, I too really miss my pre-baby/pre-breastfeeding boobs. It is amazing how they just deflate.

I have never been on the parent side of that situation (yes, my son is four and a half and I have never left him - not really and not in any kind of program) but I have certainly been on the teacher side. LOTS of times. And it is perfectly normal. And the fact that he was cuddling with the teacher means his day was just fine. So, try not to beat yourself up too much (says the woman who has never left her kids - yes, I know how ridiculous that is).

Aww, this totally breaks my heart! That feeling is so emotionally painful, almost like having your heart ripped out of your chest.

Although, second to this feeling is when you go to drop them off, they run to their teacher and act like you're chopped liver... now that's a real gut wrencher too.

Sometimes you just can't win.

Aww... poor little man! They're so resilient though. Before you know it, he'll love his Mom's Day Out as much as you do! It always takes some time to adjust to new things.

And I'm worried about the boobs, too... they're already so different than they used to be... and I'm still nursing 'round the clock! :( At least I got to enjoy them for a good 16 years before I sacrificed them for the cause. ;)

Crap, it ate my other post.. was saying that Jasper cries when I pick him up too, even though he loves daycare and has gone since 12 weeks old.. some babies smile when mommy comes. We are obviously the unfortunate few!

Awwww! I wish I could say it will get better, but it just sort of comes in waves. Jasper is totally used to daycare and really likes it, but he goes through these clingy stages like now when he BAWLS when I drop him off, even though he's been there 3 days a week since he was 12 weeks!

The new tactic is to take him out the backdoor to look at the trees to distract him while I leave. I'm quite convinced that he will grow up and feel abandonment whenever he sees a tree.

Anyway, I take solace in the fact that they tell me he is FINE there all day until I arrive.. that's when the whining and crying starts, as if to say "I can't believe you left me here even though I've had so much fun!"

Every baby is different, some break into big smiles when their parents come to pick them up, unfortunately ours seem to be the other kind ;)
